I feel bad for those black kids.

There are high schools and places named after kkk leader (creator) Nathan Bedford Forrest.

Some schools wanted to change the name but many racists (and anyone that wants to keep that racist name for a school is a racist otherwise they wouldn't want that name) prevented it from happening. (One particular school that was majority black wanted to change the name but the whites prevented them from doing so).

I do not believe any confederates or KKK or neo nazi members should be honored in anyway, for starters they are anti-american obviously, secondly they are racists, and are not worthy of honor at all.

I personally don't think schools should be named after people period, it just makes it much more easier and less controversial.

I once watched a show that talked about how many streets that bear MLK's name are often worn and torn streets in bad neighborhoods. If you can't honor the person by giving them a nice street, then why honor them at all?

There was a case in which a majority white school wanted to change the name of their MLK high school to Orange High school. They were afraid that people woul think they were a ghetto school and it would give their kids less opportunities, on top of that people wanted to name the school after something that really has a connection to their town.

The second reason is much more understandable. People are so gung ho about naming a school after someone famous they never think about how unoriginal it is and how out of place it is.

The only schools that really should bear the name of someone famous is if they have some strong connection (or are alumni) to that school or town.

But I think its wrong to name parks, schools, towns etc after racists because they do not deserve any honor.

Thats why its just easier to not name anything after anyone because bad people like Forrest don't deserve honor, and those like MLK who do deserve honor are not getting it properly in the first place.
