Why blacks only like things when there is another black to look up to.

I was reading an article about how most blacks are not fans of NASCAR because there is no one for blacks to look up to or to root on. Some racist white people as usual were showing that they are white, by not comprehending why blacks want a black person to look up to.

For whites, they can afford to look up to a black person if they wanted to, cause chances are their are several white people of that same area they can also turn to. They have several idols. As for blacks, when they don't see a black person they can look up to, they do not want to partake in that activity.

For starters, they don't want to be the only black person in a white activity because lets face it, white people do not know how to treat blacks properly and the last thing they want to deal with is being mistreated for being black in an activity that whites believe blacks should not be apart of.

Secondly, the absence of a black role model in that activity makes most blacks feel as though its too hard to get into that activity because there is no one for them to look up to...no one to make them feel its possible.

When I see a black person (light or dark), I feel its possible or its okay. When I do not, I feel uncomfy because I do not want to stand out.

Besides black and white is different. Most blacks can't look up to people like Christina Aguilera because white and black are different, in body shape, hair, voice etc...that is why blacks look up to Beyonce and such instead.

That is why blacks are happy that Disney is making a black princess finally. Because blacks have a completely different experience in this country and they need someone they can relate to who is similar to them. Its almost impossible for whites to comprehend this because they have yet to ever have to worry about being in this position. They don't know what its like at all, so they end up saying racist things that reinforce just exactly why blacks prefer black role models.

This may sound cocky to some people and it's not meant to be: every time I hear that so and so was the first black person to do such and such I am suspicious. Why? Mostly because every time I look it up or see that person on t.v. they turn out to be biracial. I can't explain it but sometimes it gets annoying. It feels like sometimes we're supposed to be the ones that paves the way for blacks to do something they never tried before and the black race gets the credit for it.

NHRA dragracer J.R. Todd ( supposed to be the first black guy to win); I haven't found it confirmed yet , but definitely looks like a biracial guy

Formula 1 racer Lewis Hamilton ( supposed to be the first black formula 1 racer ): He's British biracial

I'll be surprised if the first black nascar driver to win something is Not Biracial.
What is your take on this??

I think I may have done an earlier post on that months back...on the fact that biracials often have had to carry the black race, not just in statistics but in achievements, I think i made that post out of anger at how some blacks treat biracials and are insensitive to biracials and their struggle.

I am kinda of in the middle on it. It sucks that biracials can't get recognition for who they are but at the same time, its also for the greater good of helping the black race which we are always going to be apart of at least in our lifetime...

We suffer discrimination just like other blacks from white people, so their fight in the civil rights movement helped us out every bit as much as we are still considered black to white society.

I think a biracial person should be able to say they are "biracial black" like Obama did, it satisfies everyone.

I wouldn't say that darker skinned blacks or just black people in general don't try its just that sometimes the lighter you are the more beneficial it can sometimes be...its not the case for the most part but it can still be part of it cause america is still extremely racist.

The black race needs more positive role models instead of rappers, and sometimes a biracial who wins something for the black race may help out giving that child a role model or hope.

Like I said, I am inbetween on the issue, there are benefits and disadvantages to both choices.
