Race is not real?

We all know a colorblind society is a bad idea because it serves to ignore the problems at hand and only to make things worse. One thing that annoys me that many blacks and whites will spout is the whole notion that there is no race.

The problem with this argument is that clearly there is race. It doesn't matter how similar everyone may be genetically, we are all different enough to notice it. The problem is that people mistreat others for differences they have no real control over.

Whenever I hear someone say that there is no such thing as race and that its a social construct, I usually stop listening at that point. It sounds so silly and stupid what they say. Its another garbage line from the "colorblind society is best".

I feel people need to wake up and enter the real world. There is such a thing as race. There is such a thing as differences. Rather than try to pretend its not real, accept that it is real and learn to embrace it rather than be ashamed of it by trying to say someone is not black when they clearly are black.

Lying to yourself will only work for so long.
