English as our main language

I am one of those people that believe America should make English the official language of this country. Who cares if everyone here is the descendant of an immigrant or "immigrants" (referring to those forced here as slaves). When The United States was founded, the people spoke English. We have been speaking English for hundreds of years (okay 200 hundred years), when America had an immigration surge in the 1890s and early 1900s, the people learned English, it was do or die.

People who refuse to learn english are at a setback and often stick with each other. I also think its wrong to punish people for not knowing Spanish, this is an English speaking country not spanish, save your spanish for your home life where it belongs.

Yes people should start learning a second language of THEIR choice just to catch up with Britain, but also, like all the other countries such as France and Germany, it is important to adopt a national language, when you go to other countries, you can't expect them to know your language, likewise, when you come to America, you should learn English. Why should WE cater to YOU?
