Angela Bassett is to black people what Halle Berry is to white people

If you were to ask me who are the prettiest dark skinned black women the first 2 that come to mind are Vivica A Fox and Gabrielle Union. Angela Bassett is pretty in her own right but not in the way blacks hype her up.

Many blacks (especially women) tend to tear Halle apart because of the attention she gets from whites. Whites hype her up as the "ideal" black beauty.

Because she is lighter than most blacks (who have the milk chocolate skin tone), many blacks reject her.

Now of course her acting really is sub-par, obviously she is more known for her looks than anything else.

But black people often nonetheless complain about how Halle gets hyped up. So what do they do?

They hype up Angela Bassett. To an extent that they refuse to be open to the idea of other black women, such as Fox as being the "ideal" beauty.

If there is a lesson to learn in any of this its that, you can't put a stamp on who is the ideal beauty.

I hate it when people hype something up more than it really needs to be. In fact the more we hype it the more critical some of us become...something we wouldn't notice if people left well enough alone and didn't hype it up.

Why do you think people make fun of Titanic (and in 1o years Avatar)? The same with Twilight, HSM, and etc.

Responding to one form of hyping by hyping someone else does not answer the problem at hand.

Stop letting one represent all.
