My two favorite Former First Ladies

A post from someone else's blog has reminded me of one of my favorite First Ladies. I feel compelled to mention my two fave first ladies, for different reasons but nonetheless, my faves.

1. Eleanor Roosevelt

What makes her one of my 2 faves? She was an advocate for not only women's rights, but even civil rights. Some say Hillary Clinton was the force behind Bill, but I'd like to think that Eleanor was also a force behind her husband Franklin. I would find it hard to believe if Eleanor Roosevelt isn't in anyone's top 5 favorite First Ladies.

2. Jacqueline Kennedy

What makes me love Jackie Kennedy is not just the fact that I liked JFK, but her beautiful fashion tastes. I am all for the 50s and 60s dress style. I wish I could have been a part of the days of wearing skirts and dresses and no pants (unless around the house) era.

Some people were probably expecting me to have Michelle Obama as 1 of my 2. But truth be told, I honestly just don't care about her all that much. I really don't like her fashion tastes, and I don't see what the hype is all about. I feel like many people are saying she is beautiful and has great fashion taste merely because she is the first black first lady. There are far more prettier black woman than she, is she better looking than Condi Rice? Yes, but even Omarosa (the Apprentice, by the way i am not a fan, never was never will be, i found out about her through The Sureal Life) looks better than Michelle. Personally other than Eleanor and Jackie, I really don't care much about any of the other First Ladies, not even Hillary Clinton.

3 Ironies about the Army WASPs

Not WASP as in "white anglo saxion protestant"

But wasp as in the women who flew planes in WWII to help aid the military even though they were not considered part of the military.

But there are 3 ironies about the Army WASPs.

1. They would not let black women join. Ironic considering, these women are being mistreated for being female, yet do not mind mistreating other women for being black. I just find it hypocritical that you would dare lobby for rights and demand not to be mistreated on the basis of gender, while at the same time you mistreat someone on the basis of skin color.

2. They allowed a Asians and Native Americans to join the ranks, in a war where we fighting asians, yet they would not allow black people, who were willing to give their lives for a country that didn't even see them as citizens (and still don't today). In many cases in history you will find that Asians and other non-black minorities have almost always been treated as honorary whites.

3. The third irony is that Barack Obama, signed into law the WASPs Gold Congressional Medal of Honor. The irony of this is that he is black, and he is signing something into law for a group that would not even allow black women to be apart of the WASPs.

Criticizing black men

In society, its okay to down on black women and make false assumptions. If a black woman dares get angry she is labeled an angry black woman, or worse, ghetto.

Black men get away with doing this because well they are men.

But yet black women get accused of some of the most heinous things if she dares criticize the state of which most black men are in.

I feel a black woman has the right to complain about black men, if she has had enough experiences.

I don't feel its wrong to say that many black men shirk responsibilities theses days and get women pregnant and then leave her. My dad did it, my sister's dad did it. And so many other girls dad did it.

Yes we all know other races of men do it, but one is lying if they dare say that black men often do it more, which statistically they do.

Here is what makes the problem of fixing problems within a race so hard. Communication is shut off.

I feel its wrong for a white person to tell black people what is wrong with the black community. It has to come from someone who is black. Likewise, if the white race were to ever fix the problems within their race it would have to come from the persistance of a white person not black people. Why else do you think the Civil Rights movement was as successful as it was, when white people started marching along with the blacks and advocating for them on their behalf, people started to listen. The same happened with slavery.

Someone once commented, that these kinds of people are known as "translators" they take the message of what blacks say and white-itize it for white people to hear.

No one wants someone of another race telling them what is wrong with their race or telling them how to fix their race, especially since that person has no real ties to that race.

Now biracials are faced with the problem of having ties to both, especially those raised by their white side, they almost have a given right to an opinion of both sides because they seen it all for themselves. But most do not since we go by race, not titles.

But even when blacks do try to address the problems, they often recieve backlash usually from lower class people (I am not knocking lower class people as I am poor too). When Obama tried to address the father problem, Jesse Jackson totally bad mouthed him.

I mean come on! Even the prez says the same thing.

You see, we can be in denial about the problems within the race, make excuses for everything, or we can address the problems.

Part of the problem is that every person of every race has shirked personal responsibility. Some say this happened after the Great Depression, when it became alright for the gov't to take care of everything.

But living in a PC society we are not prepared for someone to come right out and criticize, so we take quick offense. Communication is shut off to hearing the problems. No one wants to live in reality, cause its depressing, we make it depressing because not a single human being really wants to clean it up.

Why? Because its a team effort. If one race was to fix its problems, all the other races would need to fix their problems, its a chain...everyone has to do something to make it all work.

A few reasons black women are less likely to report being raped:

I was baffled to find out that black women are more likely to be raped than white women because you never hear about black women in the news, only white women.

But then I also found out that part of the reason you do not hear about black female victims is because they are less likely to report it, this along with the fact that black women are already seen as lesser than therefore the media does not pay them much attention.

But one of the 2 biggest reasons black women are likely not to report it is because:

1. the police: even when the victim does report it, often more than not they will not listen, they do not care. In fact, they are more likely to blame her and say she wanted it.

2. In some rape cases, it was done from a domestic abuse case, in which the husband or boyfriend sexually assaulted her out of control. They say black women are more likely to tolerate it in an abusive relationship, this mostly stems from the fact that black women are also less likely to marry, and they want to be married, and some will often settle for less.

Its scary, but blacks suffer the most socially in every way possible. Blacks surprisingly are more likely to die from skin cancer, blacks are more likely to get many diseases, it irritates me to always see that blacks suffer the most from all bad things. We all know this stems from not having enough money for healthcare (which is why I am for universal healthcare as no one should suffer just because they are poor).

It sux. It truly is impossible to combat racism. We are always going to suffer.

Difference between conservative racists and liberal racists

Typically a conservative racist is more overt with their racism, just look at Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, and Glenn Beck. They are unapologetic for their racism, and their actions and behaviors are often justified by most white people.

A liberal racist is more racist while using the guise of being anti-racist. Such example is Macon D and his blog. This type of racist is more covert with their racism and they are more applauded for being liberal and anti-racist because most people are oblivious to the racism they deliver.

What makes the liberal racist worst sometimes is that they try to pander to both sides. Its like when people say something like "I think blacks are all genetically bad, no offense". They think that "no offense" makes what they say is okay.

Both parties use the "I have black friends so its okay for me to say racist stuff"argument.

Conservatives try to justify their racism by saying its patriotic. They use guises like "socialism" to excuse their racist behavior, and whats sad is that majority of white people are actually dumb enough to believe all of it.

Liberal racists don't want to believe they are racist. Most will deny it and even use the "I voted for Obama" excuse, which would make you wonder, if one has to say that, then were you just voting for them because of their race? I mean otherwise, what does his race have to do with anything?

There are two types of liberal racists, you got ones that are down and out racist but have democratic beliefs (like Robert Byrd), and then you have your unknowingly racist liberals, who pretty much subscribe to stereotypes about blacks.

The unknowingly racist liberal refuses to accept that they are racist, and will, like the conservative racist, try to justify what they did and make up excuses.

In the end, both the conservative racists and the liberal racists are not good. But what makes the liberal racist sometimes worse than the conservative racist is the fact that we all expect conservatives to be racist and hateful, as both the Libertarian and Republican parties are hateful anti-human rights type of platforms. But we expect liberals to be more opening and accepting, yet many are not. In other words, some don't live by what they are politically preaching.

Is this a wrong reason to like MLK Jr. Day?

So apparently at my university, you get a month off (so much better than the one week my high school gave you). What makes it exactly a month is the fact that winter break runs right into MLK Jr. Day, which provides us with one more day of break.

I am one of those people that doesn't celebrate the meaning of a holiday. I just like the perks of not having to go to class. Is that really a bad thing?

I mean you look at Christmas, and many other holidays, if they haven't doused it in the perks of no work or school, then they have doused it in consumerism. I mean lets face it most holidays are just for pure marketing.

Not a single holiday celebrated in this country has roots to its actual meaning anymore. Its nothing more than an excuse to pig out or to buy stuff at a cheaper than usual price.

So is it really all that wrong to enjoy a holiday for the sheer fact that you get to rest?

Romantic movies

I am a sucker for romantic movies. Especially romantic comedies, as I am also a sucker for comedy (especially teen/college movies). But there are some, more dramatic movies that I am a sucker for.

They all take place in the past, which I feel heightens the movie because we have the tendency to view the past as more glamorous and soooo not, well...the 21st century.

These 3 movies are The Notebook, Titanic, and Tuck Everlasting. I especially love Titanic and Tuck Everlasting.

Sometimes the best and true romantic movies do not have such happy endings. In Titanic and Tuck Everlasting the endings were more somber and sad, in Titanic you had to cry. With The Notebook it was romantic but what made it so sad was how Allie was suffering from Alzheimer's and was forgetting who she was and all her memories.

Every movie has romance in it, but what sets romantic movies apart is the fact that the movie is only about romance.

I guess that makes me your typical chick flick girl, something I am not ashamed of. I am a girl. I am an indoorsy type. I am scared of absolutely everything. Why get upset when someone makes note of that? Its not a bad thing.

Hair

Its obvious my hair can do wonders, when in the hands of people who actually know how to work black hair.

I don't know how my hair would be labeled, a black women, once told me I had "good hair" when I was 14...I didn't understand what she meant, I always felt my hair was bad because it wasn't like a white person's hair, and people (black and white) always made fun of my hair. She had told me my hair was "good" because it was thick. She then had to explain to me that what makes having a thick amount of hair is that you can do much more with it. I remembered a white girl once saying that she wished her hair was as thick as mine as she said she had "flat hair".

I still don't get any of the concepts of "good hair" as there are so many hundreds of definitions of it.

But anyways, one of the troubling things growing up with a white mom, is that you are often deprived of the knowledge of how to do your hair. Some moms will take the initiative to learn it. While others like my mom, just have you adapt to the ponytail and let it be enough.

The ponytail, a style I still wear, is bland, but quick enough to get you on the go in no time.

I am trying various products for my hair to see what it takes to make it work. I know my hair can be beautiful, its a problem of not knowing how to take advantage of that. I have never really invested in hair products other than shampoo and conditioner.

I can ask thousands of biracials and even blacks what they use and how they do their hair. But just being told the products doesn't do much. Not to mention I have no clue what kind of hair I have. I feel like the texture of my hair has changed almost as much as the color. My hair is darker than what it used to be. It used to be all out dark brown, now its deep dark brown and black. There are parts, usually the hidden parts that still have a faint shade of regular dark brown in it.

When I step out of the shower my hair looks curly and wavy. But when it dries it puffs...and thats what I want to fix. I want to know how to to make the puffing stop. I want to know how to define my curls.

The problem with black hair is that its expensive and time consuming. I don't want to buy products that are like 50 dollars. I am a low maintenance type of girl. I don't even wear make up!

I have heard of mixed chicks hair products but I could not afford that kind of price tag for the size bottles you get.

I am still trying to figure out what exactly a deep conditioner is supposed to do.

Talk about bogus!

So I just came across a new "blog" called Tragic Mulatto. The blog is by a black person who is criticizing biracials and the "multiracial movement". Essentially this person is trying to tell biracials what they are and are not, and that their experiences in life is not real.

In fact this user made it clear in their first "post" that not all biracials have a biracial experience. Which made me laugh because everyone has an experience based on their race.

I have a feeling that so called blogger will be blogging about being anti-biracial.

It really irritates me when whites and blacks try to act as if they know what being biracial is like. I don't want no one speaking on my behalf. And I don't want someone who doesn't know what its like being biracial telling me that what I go through is not real.

This is the first anti-mulatto blog that I have come across. I have seen pro white blogs, pro black blogs, anti-racism blogs, and then racist blogs that are under the guise of being anti-racist when they aren't (aka Macon D's blog). I have seen blogs in which black men attack black women, I have even seen blogs in which black women profess their love for white men. I have seen other mulatto blogs in which I did not really agree with (due to different experiences). But this is the first blog I have seen in which someone is targeting biracials because they hate them. I see these kinds of people often negatively comment biracials in Pro black blogs and on Tiffany Jones' Mulatto Diaries blog/vlog.

I already knew blacks had more issues with biracials than whites (to a white person anyone that looks remotely black is considered black to them without a second thought).

Tragic Mulatto sounds like a joke of a blog anyways. The name alone should tell you its more of an insult blog than anything else.

There is nothing wrong with the word mulatto. Its the term tragic mulatto that is the problem. Tragic mulatto means that biracials want to be white but never can be because whites see them as blacks, and thus as rejects. If biracials aren't seen as stuck up then they are seen as confused or self hating, usually by biracial haters (or just plain racists).

The Homework Rule

The Main Rule:

As long as you get the homework assignment done by the due date, it does not matter when you do it.

The sub rules:

  • Why do it later when you can do it now? Meaning, why hold off on doing something that could be and should be done early on because sometimes not doing it til later means twice as much work to do. Also, you will often feel stressed that you still have to get something done.
  • Organize how you want to do your school work such as by due date or by extremity of the assignment or etc.
  • Its really pointless to mentally or physically plan when you are going to do your homework. Its best to just do it when you do it. Just make sure you have the due dates memorized.

Media misconstruing comments

In the Obama post I did, I talked about how conservative media pretty much misconstrued what Obama said. They "cut and pasted" his comment.

Cut-tore apart the comment and only took certain parts minus the key parts that form the comment.

paste-whine and drone on about that comment.

Baseball player Gary Sheffield recieved flack a few years ago because he not only said how black players were treated worse than white players on the Yankees (which oddly enough no one cared to actually deny, with Torre refusing to answer, and another play simply saying that Sheffield knows what he is talking about), and for also saying that Derek Jeter wasn't "all the way black".

His comment about Jeter got misconstrued by the media. They did not bother to mention the other part where he said that Jeter is "half white and half black". He mentioned that he saw his son the same way.

But because the media only focuses on that one piece, society is made to think that he meant that Jeter wasn't in touch with his black side or was white washed. When really what Sheffield had meant is that Jeter isn't black, he is biracial.

Media is a joke these days. All they air is depressing junk, and when they have anything worthwhile to report, they usually sensationalize media, they feed on the fact that most Americans are stupid.

Comments

I think something is up with my comment section, its possible that they may not appear cause something weird is going on with my blogger...

Lightening and Tanning your skin.

Often whites will ask why any black person would lighten their skin. But at the same time one could ask why do so many white people tan their skin?

I remember in philosophy we talked about how whites like to tan and how 100 years ago the whiter you looked the better because it represented status, it separated the rich from the working class. Likewise the same applies today only opposite tanning represents someone with money or time to tan. The whiter you are the busier you are.

Why is lightening your skin stigmatized while tanning is idolized? Many on both sides of the spectrum have said that someone like me could not understand either. Whites have said before that my skin color is brown and the shade of a tan...but the reality is my skintone is darker than a tan. (I hate it when people use this argument to dismiss the subject).

But I perfectly understand why black people and other minorities lighten their skin...its because the lighter you are (meaning the whiter you look) the better you may be treated.

Now I could sit here and say people should be satisfied with their skin color. The truth is though, that should only come out of the mouths of those in the situation of tanning or lightening skin. Someone like me, should not be the voice of reason because lets face it, I truly can't understand what its like to be much darker or to be so pasty white that I look like a ghost.

I can only speak for how I am treated as someone with the skin tone that is slightly in between the two.

Some people get upset when celebrities lighten skin. To me I could care less, they are free to do as they please, I have said it so many times, you shouldn't idolize celebrities because they may let you down when they reveal their human faults.

I am not going to say its flat out wrong to do either of those things, its just both have proven to show health risks and one should know what they are doing before they get into them. I don't know the kinds of things people are put through due to their skin color so I am not going to preach to anyone about doing it. Its easy for people to tell you to just accept an uncomfortable situation (not necessarily race either) and to learn to live with it. But as much as its easy to criticize someone for changing their skin tone, one should take the time to understand why.

The problem isn't really changing your skin tone, the real problem is that we live in a society where people feel they have to change their skin tone for acceptance.

Obama and "we are not a Christian nation"

What he said:

"And I've said before that one of the great strengths of the United States is -- although as I mentioned, we have a very large Christian population, we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation; we consider ourselves a nation of citizens who are bound by ideals and a set of values."
Conservatives managed to take a positive statement and make some offense out of it. I mean only hateful overly-sensitive people who are looking for problems can find offense to this statement. It doesn't help that people like Hannity, did the usual cut and paste technique on the quote, meaning they butchered the quote by only focusing on one single part of it and not the whole quote as a whole. You can tell their brain shut off after the words "We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation".

The truth is that the quote is saying we are not just a Christian nation, Jewish nation, or Muslim nation. What Obama is trying to do is bring the whole nation together rather than leave people out by separating them because of their religion.

If he said America was a Christian nation, he would be forgetting so many people. Its not his job to just pander to Christians, especially when conservative Christians will never like him.

Conservatives were trying to use the founding father bit, but they have seemed to forget that the founding fathers wanted a separation of church and state. They could have easily made this country an official Christian nation, where only Christianity is allowed, if they wanted to, I mean most were Protestants anyways. But they didn't. Because they knew exactly what happened in England a few hundred years earlier...you get persecuted if you dare have a different belief.

And besides realistically, there are different denominations in Christianity, who is right? How do you decide?

I have always preferred the liberal idea to religion, and would prefer to be a liberal Christian anyday than ever become a conservative one. The liberal idea is that one should not let their religious beliefs over power the good of a country. They believe that what one believes is personal and should not be forced upon other. Conservative christians are okay with forcing their religion on others because majority in america are christians. But how would you feel if the majority became Muslim, would you want to be forced to convert? If not, then why would you want to do that someone else? Your religio is not more right than anyone else's.

We may be a predominately Christian nation, that sadly attacks people for not having Christian beliefs, but we are not an official Christian nation. If people that don't know America want to say we are then fine, but legally and officially we are not.

I personally don't care to hear any whining about how Christians are victims. Its like the south and the civil war, both are complaining that they are victims when they are only victims of their own actions.

I find that about 90% of those who call themselves Christians honestly are not. Otherwise why cry over the more trivial things rather than focus on your religion. From what I know its not the stuff that makes the religion, its your relationship with the Lord, which shouldn't be based on material objects.

In another topic that relates to religion, some ask what turns more people away from Christianity? Honestly its not just a matter of lower morals, in fact that comes as a result of less people being Christian.

Many people at some point in their life will question if God exists, some are in this stage for ever, some only for a little bit. But if anything its a good thing to question, because it can bring you even closer to the Lord...or it can push you away. Ultimately strongly knowing what you believe, whether you are theist or atheist, is good because you know what you want and etc.

But what pushes people away is that some, like myself see the truth about many Christians. Growing up in that conservative Christian family I was able to see all the hypocrisy these so called Christians had. They were too busy hating on people for different beliefs and condemning people and being hypocrites to actually care about Christianity itself.

So I walked away, I was already questioning and going to church actually made things worse.

I once noted that sometimes born-again Christians are more christianly (though they have their own faults) than those who have never had their Christianity die within them. Why? because the Born again Christian, has been to the other side and seen it for themselves. When they return they often live more by the Bible because they are unsure how a Christian is supposed to be. But Christians that have never left often forget what they are truly supposed to be believing because the label of Christian has become too much a part of them.

I haven't closed the doors of maybe one day returning to Christianity, but I personally don't care to ever join a denomination again. I just do not like the hypocrisy of many Christians today.

Its that kind of behavior that makes someone get pushed away from a religion. When someone intensly questioning, they start to see what is easily missed.

Black Friday

I have never in my life been shopping on Black Friday.

I never have much money on me at this time, and quite frankly I do not care to be around a bunch of maniacal people.

Too bad the internet does not post any worthwhile sales. Their definition of a sale is 10 dollars off of an expensive digital camera.

Okay, 10 dollars off is only meaningful if the item was already under 50 dollars.

I love to buy stuff at a sale...but for me its just not worth it on Black Friday. I'd rather save up and buy it at full price than deal with the insanity of today.

And that poor guy that was trampled to death last year only reinforces why I personally just don't care for Black Friday.

oooooh philosophical moment!!

I am a philosophical type of person.

As I was doing a post on my Me vs. the World blog, I came up with something that I just had to put as a facebook status.

"the present always sucks until it becomes the past".

I was thinking of how much I miss 90s Nick...the Golden Era.

I started thinking about my own life. How I feel being a child was soooo much better than now. But then I remembered I had a tough time as a kid too.

It is then I realized, and almost everyone is like this. We all see the present as sucking, but when it starts to become the past, we start to see it for its good.

Its like appreciating someone. You cannot fully appreciate someone until they are gone, because as long as they are alive they can disappoint you are even get you hurt. But usually once they are gone they can no longer do you harm or damage (sometimes not the case though).

With the present, it can always bring us unhappiness because its still ongoing, but when 10 years fly by we look at it differently because we are in a new present and the old present is now the past, and can usually not do too much harm anymore, so we start to look at the good side of it, something that isn't so easy to do with the present.

You look at old hollywood, we cherish it, we cherish movies that when it was present it was not successful, but decades later we don't see it the same way.

Its easy to forget the bad parts of the past, when the past is well...the past, and you can't change it.

But it really is true. The present sucks until it becomes the past.

The Racial Joke rule

There is a racial joke rule, although not all comply, this is essentially what it is:

  • The racial rule is essentially that the only person that can make fun of a race is a person of that race: i.e. only blacks can make of things going on in the black race. Only hispanics can make fun of hispanics. Asians to asians. etc.
The Sub-rules to the main rule:
  1. This rule can be broken when a person of a different race has the full acceptance of another race. i.e. if a white person has a tight in with black people, they can be permitted to making jokes about blacks. If the in is not tight enough, then expect backlash. (this rule mainly applies to professional comedians this is why what Michael Richards did was wrong, but Jeff Ross' roast was okay and Lisa Lampanelli who also makes racial jokes about other races, it should be mentioned that both Ross and Lampanelli are insult comics).
  2. The reason its okay for minorities to make fun of whites is because of all the centuries whites have used minorities at their expense. Whites and their racism gets so absurd that one can't help but make jokes out of it. Of course there is a fine line, and often, that minority has to have some kind of in with whites to truly get away with it.
  3. Always remember that what may be funny to you and your friends is not necessarily funny to others. If you a white person, make racial jokes with your minority friends, it may not sit well with others of that minority race. Case in point: the Miley Cyrus incident, and the Halle Berry incident. Remember (and this is something one often forgets), the minority friend does not represent an entire race. Just because they are okay with it doesn't mean everyone else is.
For me personally, I prefer racial jokes that only come from that person of that race. Racial jokes are a little too much for me honestly, and it makes me uncomfy when someone of another race makes a joke about another race. I am not too crazy for insult comedy.

What all the biracial experience encompasses.

I once did a post, early on in my blog, about what a biracial experience is. I had mentioned that its essentially one's experience as a biracial person.

But to be more specific, a biracial experience really does encompass everything such as:

  • race
  • religion
  • lifestyle
  • tastes: music, clothing, and other stuff.
Essentially the biracial experience is just another way of saying one's experience in life the only difference is that its coming out of the mouth of someone who is biracial. Blacks have a black experience. Whites have a white experience. Asians have an asian experience and so on.

Our race helps shape the kind of experience we will all have whether we like it or not. That is why you will find alot of biracials with different experiences in life. Some may have experienced lots of racism while some only experienced some and a few have been lucky to not experience any at all.

I have mentioned before biracials are at a disadvantage. Typically mono-racial people have the same experience. White usually live in their white world (and privilege) and blacks usually have the same experience (the working class and having to deal with racism and other disadvantages). But with biracials it can go so many ways.

But the biracial experience pretty much is one's life experiences, only from the eyes of someone who is biracial.

This is why it angers me when other people (black, white, and even biracial) sit there telling you your experience is not real or important. Its not real to you or important to you because its not your experience. You didn't have to live it.

What ever happened to the tradition of days off?

One of the things I hate about being an uber politically correct society is that now one has to work on holidays.

Well this is a mix of both religious difference and well, business greed.

I have said before I hate political correctness, mostly because it makes us a much weaker society and hides what people really think. Do I think someone should phrase something in a hateful way if they don't have to? No. One doesn't have to be mean with their message ever.

But anyways, because of different religions and beliefs, people have to work on holidays. My mom had to work for 5 to 6 hours today (she works a minimum wage job). It was more or less a waste of time. She was gonna have to walk too, since the bus near us doesn't run on holidays, but thankfully one of my mom's friends offered her a ride at the last minute.

Whatever happened to the era of closing down shop? I mean so you may not celebrate Christmas or thanksgiving for that matter, but why can't you just buy enough food to get you past that day and just treat it like any other?

It just doesn't seem fair that people have to work on holidays. I mean that should be a relaxing day.

I used to think Christians were whining when they would complain about "Happy Holidays" but having time to think about it, I realized that that is just one of many things you see wrong with the holidays now. I mean television does the "Happy Holidays" stuff while simutaneously airing only Christmas programming.

But I also understand at the same time that there are other religions. But it seems more respectful to just individually wish a good holiday on the specific holiday like they used to do. I remember when I was a kid I'd see "Merry Christmas", "Happy Hanukkah", "Happy Kwanzaa" and the occasional "Feliz Navidad" (the Spanish way of saying Merry Christmas) signs and posters up everywhere.

But now they are all about the shortcut "Happy Holidays".

But what I really miss is no work on Sundays and holidays. I mean yeah is it rooted in Christianity? Yes but at the same time, why work if you don't have to?

Maybe closing down shop is just a small town thing. I don't live in a small town so I have no idea.

I just hate it when people make a case out of everything for the littlest reasons. The last thing I want to do is push Christianity on people who are in the minority due to religious reasons, I mean, cause thats doing exactly what white people do to black people, when it comes to racism.

I just like tradition. And it feels like its disappearing.

What is biracial radar?

There is a term called gaydar. This means people have the ability to "sniff out" gays. In the same sense, there is also a biracial radar. Like gaydar, those with biracial radar have the ability to tell if someone is possibly biracial.

I say possibly because no one ever knows if a person is biracial unless they either ask or find out by certain types of observations.

Quite honestly its kind of weird asking someone if they are biracial when you don't know them enough. I mean if you speak to them or have enough classes with them, then maybe...

Some biracials naturally are curious to know if there are other people like them out there. Its just naturally interesting, and sometimes quite fun to see just how many biracials are really out there.

I know I still get amazed by all the little brown skinned tone children with a white parent (usually a mom) in tow with them.

Things that tend to alert one's biracial radar:

  • skin tone (brown tone, usually whitish brown or yellowish brown, sometimes reddish brown)
  • curly hair, especially with boys.
  • "acting white" many biracials tend to lean to their white side (not all but many), and this usually makes one wonder if they are black or biracial as they seem to be lacking in a sense part of their culture in personality.
  • facial features: some have european noses, sometimes having freckles, or different eye color.
  • voice can sometimes be a little more "white".
Now the problem with biracial radar is that its faulty and isn't always true. I mean, born blacks can in fact also have these traits too. That list is just the traits that usually cause people to question and spark curiosity if one is biracial or not.

With white people, they pretty much assume I am black. With blacks and other biracials, you can sometimes see the curiosity in their faces.

Beyje

A new singer, she isn't famous, but she has potentional. I came across her while trying to search for some cool pop songs as I really want to find another song to jam to.

Beyje is supposedly biracial. She certainly looks it but I have only been able to find one website that actually said she was black and white. She isn't quite known enough to spark many articles about her.

here is a song by her that i enjoy.

Its a great song.

Mariah Carey vs. Eminem

So a while back ago, the two feuded with each other and probably still are. Eminem accused Mariah of sleeping with him and other things.

I doubt they are true, and even if they are, she is entitled to her privacy. If she chooses to erase that part of her life out, then by all means do so. She is married and if chooses to forget people she had been with in the past thats her choice. I personally don't wish to know every little damn thing about these celebrities, just like I don't want to know a celebrity's political beliefs. Just do what we pay you to do...sing, act, or whatever art ability.

But if I had to choose who I prefer it would definitely be Mariah. I personally think Eminem is a poser. On top of that he is a jerk who has no respect.

On top of that even, I can't stand rap and don't care for his music whatsoever. At least with Mariah I like R&B even though I only like one song of hers really. I am not a fan of either one, in fact I am not a fan of any singer or music group quite honestly.

But in this silly stupid feud, I will have to side with Mariah thats for sure. I just can't stand Eminem at all.

Plus Mariah has class...automatically cause rappers have no class, and on top of that in general she has been much more mature about this. I have to admit, Eminem does come off as obsessed the fact that he won't leave her alone about something that happened years ago...he seems intent on trying to make her life miserable because he has a pathetic life.

So true...

I am a sucker for quotes because they are so inspirational. I came across this quote by Halle Berry:

"After having many talks with my mother about the issue, she reinforced what she had always taught me. She said that even though you are half black and half white, you will be discriminated against in this country as a black person. People will not know when they see you that you have a white mother unless you wear a sign on your forehead. And, even if they did, so many people believe that if you have an ounce of black blood in you then you are black. So, therefore, I decided to let folks categorize me however they needed to."

I felt this was so true. It really puts reality in perspective and what our society is when it comes to biracials. Its why I care not just about biracial issues but also black issues, because the two are so very interconnected. There are many biracials that fail to see that.

Bad mouthing Halle

Often in many pro black blogs, Halle Berry and Alicia Keys will get bad mouthed. Usually its because white society looks at them as if they should be the ideal black beauty. Mostly biracials tend to be looked at as the Hollywood black representation along with light skinned black women.

In many of these pro-black websites, it seems like it is their duty to try to downgrade and insult these women as much as possible.

In fact it gets so downright hateful that one can't help but ask if their hostility is so great because of jealousy and that tearing these girls down with people of like minded opinions about them makes them feel better about themselves.

Some of the most contradictory stuff I have seen is many saying Halle isn't black and saying she is loved because she is half white, while also saying she is a black person but insulting her for the fact that they feel she isn't pretty...because of her skin color.

According to the bad mouthers white see Halle as exoctic and "safe" because she is light skinned. Its obvious what blacks, especially dark skinned blacks, think of Halle, most think she is less than.

They discredit her for being light skinned and then they discredit her by one-dropping her (even if Halle considers herself black, the way blacks one-drop her is more out of hate than anything else).

Halle bashing can also be found in the form of Beyonce bashing, and etc. I don't care much for Halle's acting or Beyonce's singing (I prefer her Destiny's Child ways), but it is irritating how they get bashed for simply not being dark enough. They use that as an excuse to rail on her for everything.

Its a sad way to uplift yourself. But what is sad is that the bashers try to guise it as them criticizing Hollywood for using light skinned blacks. Should we forget that the very first black woman to ever win an Oscar for anything, happened to be dark skinned?

I've always looked at it like this, as long as they had a positive type of black woman on the show, what difference did it make if she was biracial, light skinned black, or dark skinned black?

But the way many blacks (men and women) bad mouth Halle gets so venomous. It goes from just being about her lack of talent in acting, to rumors about her being crazy, to her beauty being so horrible and that dark skinned blacks are better than her in terms of acting and beauty. No doubt that there are some, but to say it as if she is the ugliest on earth. It truly does make one think they either have problems with her skin tone only or they are just flat out jealous.

I don't know if the colorism issue is just in some peoples heads or not. But using it and Hollywood as an excuse to bash someone for something she had no control over is no more right than white people bashing the entire black race for the actions of a few.

One user who was sick of seeing the teardown defended both women by saying they are successful which is more than any of critic can say. That alone makes us all jealous and prone to bashing celebrities, especially when they have money and still foul up (and get let off the hook because of it). One user had even got sexist, castigating Halle for sleeping around, giving no fault to the men (its typical that guys do the whole "blame the women for what the men should be blamed for too"). She showed how unreasonable and hateful people are being by insulting her for perceived reasons that they cannot prove.

Here is the link to the post.

Monkey

White people are clueless when it comes to the monkey image. They claim making obama or his wife into monkeys is not racist. Even though we all know that throughout history whites say blacks are monkeys.

This is another case of whites trying to justify racism to make themselves not have to feel bad about something flat out wrong.

We all know the republicans are the white party, they have done so many racist acts the last year. Many conservatives (and white supremacist supporters obviously) have been trying to justify racism against blacks while also crying racism themselves.

It really does make one ask, why on earth do these people choose not to use their brains. And more importantly, are they that racist that they have to go out of their way to justify an overtly racist image like the New York Post image and then the racist images of his wife that have recently happened?

With the delusional and paranoia behavior of white people increasing, its only a matter of time before we revert back to the Jim Crow era, I mean, the Republican Party seriously is a dangerous threat to America...they have shown way too many times this last year that they are full blown racists. The fact that they rely on stereotypes and racist images only shows how backwards america is. And why i have no support for such a disgusting country.

This is why I hate having to live in the Midwest, just like the South its a mecca for redneck hillbilly republican racists.

Naturally more interesting...

White people in America seem to prefer people from Africa over African Americans, while Europeans prefer African Americans.

Part of the reason has to do with stereotypes. But the major reason really has to do with exposure.

It is natural to be more interested in someone from another country and continent than it is people born within the same country.

Notice how most girls go head over heels for the hot foreign exchange student from Italy, France, Germany, or Britain?

We all know American culture, we all know the American way. So its natural for us to be more interested in someone who is not from America because things may and usually are different.

In Britain, when they aren't hating on Americans because of Bush (which I find it unfair to punish blacks because you can't blame us for what white people did), they are usually taking a grand interest in knowing about day to day life about America.

American culture isn't interesting to the average American simply because we live it and have no reason to be curious about it.

So its no surprise that Americans prefer Africans over their own black people because African is a whole different ball park.

People are just naturally more interested in a lifestyle and culture different from their own.

Thinking of disowning my sister...

I have thought about this for a long time. Last year my sis and I had a falling out. We have never since the day I was born have gotten along. And things have only escalated over time. She lives in Oregon, while I live in Missouri. My aunt lives in Oregon. My sister has lived there since I was 12 and she was 15.

My sister has a delusional way of looking at things.

And I am not going to lie, I honestly do not know if I even love her. She no longer even treats me like a sister, she is closer to people in her church and acts like the younger girls are her sisters instead. She badmouths me to her pastor (which is why when i visited i didn't bother going to her stupid church).

Me and my sister have an even rockier relationship than my mom and aunt who also don't get along too much. My mom and aunt get along now more since they no longer share the same place. But my aunt is a control freak, she is a Bible thumper, the type too busy trying to push religion on you and tell you that you are going to hell if you don't follow their religion. My sister has become a mirror image of that.

My sister pretty much lets herself believe some of the white supremacy stuff. She doesn't even care of the fate of people of color. She doesn't even understand racism!

She is judgmental and is just such a bitch.

We barely talk and whenever we do she ends up insulting me and we end up arguing because I don't sit there and take the abuse.

I am seriously thinking of disowning my sister. she is already out of my life anyways. We are only of each others use when it can benefit ourselves.

I used to think it was stupid that Olivia de Havilland and her sister Joan Fontaine haven't spoken to each other since the 1970s and right now they are in their 90s. But now I fully understand why. Some dysfuntional family relations are just not repairable. Sometimes you have to walk away...becuase its doing you no good sticking around.

Its safer being a loner

I have no trust in anyone or humanity itself. I am a misanthropic person. For myself, it feels more beneficial to be alone...I do not plan to fall in love. I don't care to have friends. People hurt you and I am done being hurt. I can't have what I want so I am making do with it by exiling myself. Some people have to have people in their lives, they are extroverted or they just fear being alone and depend on others for happiness.

I am learning to love myself. I am learning to please myself...and in that process I will make enemies.

Not everyone was meant to marry. Not everyone was meant to be social. There is nothing wrong with being an introverted misanthropic loner. I am socially awkward and have such a strong disdain for people that for my sanity i require some alone time.

A trip the shopping mall gets out of hand for me because so many people "attack" the store at once and are intent on getting in my way. I tend to have lots of minor nervous breakdowns about it sometimes.

I can't afford a psychiatrist so I have no reason to seek help. I prefer to just adapt to who and what I am. Who do I have to change for? No one, so who cares really?

There may be benefits to having people in your life and there are disadvantages. There are benefits to having no people in your life and disadvantages. Depending on the kind of person you are will determine which direction is right for you. Its not wrong to be a loner.

Romantizing the Confederates.

Shirley Temple starred in a movie as a child that made the South look like victims. In the same way Gone With the Wind had and The Birth of a Nation.

The reality is that the confederates are a victim of their own stupidity and slave dependency. Its not the Union's fault that the confederate sucks.

Considering how racist America was with Jim Crow its no surprise they try to make the confederates look like victims, when we all know the Union were more like the good guys and the union was bad.

As I said in a different post, I really would not mind whatsoever if the South is ever destroyed, it has yet to change its disgusting ways. The north may not be perfect but at least it wasn't so slave and jim crow dependent.

I know automatically not to trust anyone who has sympathy for the south. Anyone that supports something like the confederate or the South is essentially supporting racism.

We need more movies that show the South for the villians they are...not just movies pertaining to Jim Crow and the Civil Rights Movement, but in Civil War also.

Racial insults are just cheap and lame

When Biracial Christian Girl mentioned Lewis Hamilton in a comment, I decided to look him up on Wikipedia.

Apparently he suffered from racism from Spanish fans (we all know Spain has primitive behavior as seen in their immature behavior during soccer matches with England).

But as I read some of the racist things they did, I couldn't help but realize that racial insults are such a cheap and lame move.

The fact that one can't possibly think of any other insults than those that pertain to race only show that you for starters have no reason to hate someone other than race, but most of all you are incapable of actually finding an insult.

I mean really, racial insults are so cheap. Even a moron knows how to use racial stereotypes to insult someone.

It makes one ask how we people of color can even allow ourselves to be insulted considering these people obviously can't find fault with you as a person considering they have to rely on racism to try to get at you. And most of all they must not be all that smart because they are not able to think up of a single insult outside of race. Those who use racial insults are just pure lazy to find fault with you.

It really says something about someone when the first thing that comes out of their mouths is a racial insult rather than your typical insult.

Whats the point of getting angry at words such as "nigger" when the person who uses it doesn't have the brains to think up something much more intelligent?

Rather than get angry at racial insults I think we as people of color should make it a joke, to laugh at the person trying to insult you, to laugh at their lack of intelligence. Use the fact that they rely on racial insults to get at you against them by saying they obviously have no problem with you as a person since the only thing they can think of to insult you is a racial epithet.

Miss USA 2009 controversy

Even though this incident happened months ago, I don't think I had a blog with blogger at that time.

Well anyways, I had stumbled upon something about Carrie Prejean. And that led me to the controversy in which she said she was against same sex marriage.

Looking more into this apparently all the finalists were asked political questions. I don't know my views on same sex marriage...there are times when I feel that its wrong to deny someone the right to marry simply because you don't agree with it. I mean, all they are asking is a marriage certificate and to be able to get the full benefits if one were to die...I mean, its not changing anything at all. But sometimes I am against it, usually when gay people start bashing blacks because of Prop 8, it makes me want to walk away from the cause...I mean why care for someone else's cause when they rag on you for something you didn't even do?

I don't think I would ever outwardly show support for gay rights...I dunno, cause I dunno how I truly feel about it.

But when I read about the Carrie Prejean incident, the first thing I was thinking was not so much what she said, but the fact that why would someone ask that question?

We all know that Perez Hilton is gay...and one of those types like Ann Coulter that like to try to stir the pot anyway they can...

But personally I don't understand why any political question would be asked. Not just that question on same sex but the other apparent political questions asked. It just seems so out of place for a Miss USA pageant.

The one thing that irked me about Prejean's answer was that she said "no offense to anybody out there". When you know what you are stating is going to be offensive but you are going to say it anyways, don't say "no offense" because people will take offense...own up to it, and stand your ground, don't try to make an appeal while trying not to appeal at the same time.

But in the end, I just don't think political questions of any sort have any place in a pageant. These pageants are supposed to be about beauty not political or religious beliefs.

Why blacks only like things when there is another black to look up to.

I was reading an article about how most blacks are not fans of NASCAR because there is no one for blacks to look up to or to root on. Some racist white people as usual were showing that they are white, by not comprehending why blacks want a black person to look up to.

For whites, they can afford to look up to a black person if they wanted to, cause chances are their are several white people of that same area they can also turn to. They have several idols. As for blacks, when they don't see a black person they can look up to, they do not want to partake in that activity.

For starters, they don't want to be the only black person in a white activity because lets face it, white people do not know how to treat blacks properly and the last thing they want to deal with is being mistreated for being black in an activity that whites believe blacks should not be apart of.

Secondly, the absence of a black role model in that activity makes most blacks feel as though its too hard to get into that activity because there is no one for them to look up to...no one to make them feel its possible.

When I see a black person (light or dark), I feel its possible or its okay. When I do not, I feel uncomfy because I do not want to stand out.

Besides black and white is different. Most blacks can't look up to people like Christina Aguilera because white and black are different, in body shape, hair, voice etc...that is why blacks look up to Beyonce and such instead.

That is why blacks are happy that Disney is making a black princess finally. Because blacks have a completely different experience in this country and they need someone they can relate to who is similar to them. Its almost impossible for whites to comprehend this because they have yet to ever have to worry about being in this position. They don't know what its like at all, so they end up saying racist things that reinforce just exactly why blacks prefer black role models.

Cultural Identity and Assimilation

The majority race in a country has all the power. Sometimes it seems like the problems of America, and other countries is that you have different cultures conflicting.

Race isn't just the problem but when people come from countries like Mexico, speaking spanish and not learning English this creates hostility.

I do believe English should be the official language, and if one comes here, they should learn the language rather than expect us to learn theirs.

I think a multi-cultural society is honestly not possible. Its one thing to celebrate your culture within the privacy of your own home, but different cultures conflict outside of it. In the middle east, there are honor killings of women who stray away from the their family traditions. Its legal there, but illegal here.

People say assimilation is a bad thing, but personally I don't think it is. There is nothing wrong with liking things that are "white". There are blacks who like country music (I don't), blacks who like NASCAR, and blacks who like baseball. Adopting White American culture isn't what makes one a sellout. What makes one a sellout is when they turn on the issue of their race and adopt a white way of thinking (essentially spouting off that racism isn't real or justifying racist acts against blacks).

When you try not to assimilate, that makes you an even bigger target...an even bigger threat to other peoples tranquility. It makes you seem as though YOU are unwilling to fit in.

Some blacks will say that whites will still hate us if we all assimilated and became like white people. And that is true...but if you are just like them, then they can't accuse you without accusing themselves of the same thing.

Right now some of the bad things about black american culture is that many blacks are having lots of children unmarried, especially black men. This is often sets up some image that blacks use welfare more than whites (and media encourages this stereotype). The violence in the ghettoes and the ebonics that many speak only encourage the idea that blacks cannot be smart.

Rap videos do not make things any better.

The black american culture used to be strong, but somehow deteiorated....

What this does is that it helps whites justify their racism even more, because they have things they can plainly hold over the black race's head. Sure the media isn't helping by only focusing on all the badness of the black race and not enough of the good, but at the same time the black race isn't really trying on their part to assimilate so that whites have less of an excuse to hate blacks.

Blacks have been and still are the most affected by racism...but maybe black america should give up its cultural identity in favor of assimilation. One doesn't have to forget their history but one should try to not be so different that it brings too much attentions to self.

Changing skin tones

I dont know what it is, but whenever I am in doors my skincolor changes. I have reddish brown skin, and I also have yellowish brown skin. And on a few occasions whitish brown skin. It changes...the sun makes me darker naturally...but indoors...out of nowhere my skintone will change...i have yet to find out how being in a room for a few hours my skin will go from yellowish to reddish back to yellowish...maybe its related to energy or mood...

White parents make the difference.

The black community feels that biracials should only see themselves as black. Not all, blacks of course but certain types. They don't understand why biracials push the biracial identity. They don't get why we don't see ourselves just as black people only.

The white parent is what makes the difference. The ones that often adopt the full black identity are often the ones who do not know their white parent.

When you are like me and most biracials, who are raised by their white parent only, you are not taught much about the black world, and therefore you do not feel black at all. You relate to blacks racially due to racism, but socially you do not always relate well to blacks.

Biracials will tell you they want to honor both sides. But the reality is that most biracials are very connected in some ways to their white side, and they may not fully like everything about the black side. They want to be able to have that middle ground of both or not have to feel forced to identify in a way they may not necessarily feel is them.

I usually put black on documents, and will sometimes put "other" or when given the chance check all that apply.

I am more connected to black history than I am the current state of the black world...so I do not fit in with many blacks of today.

There is a difference between being raised in the culture of whites, and then taking on white thinking (such as racism doesn't exist and and that racism is okay against blacks etc).

Biracials in some way or form feel less black because of their white parent, and the reality is they are less black than most. But it is growing up with that white parent that makes them want to take on a biracial identity, because they are closer to the white side than most blacks are. Some don't want to deny what is part of them...

Thats why its not so easy for biracials to just take on a black identity, lack of having the black side in one life, and then having alot of your white side in your life, makes you see things slightly different.

At least admit you are just selfish

I was watching the 71st Academy Awards clip of Elia Kazan, who sold out other people he was apart of the communist party with to the HUAC. When he was honored with an award, some people like Ed Harris refused to stand up give him applause, while others like Spielberg just sat but clapped. Some of the claps were unenthusiastic.

There is a reason I hate honoring people for achievements, we always try to look past or somehow rationalize their wrongs as a human being. The same happened to John Wayne, Charles Lindbergh, Walt Disney, and Henry Ford, all were horrible human beings, but had achievements. With white people, they prefer to rationalize the wrongs they did so they can make it okay to honor and idolize these people, while the victims of these horrid people-people of color and Jewish people- have to look realistically at these people and know that they're achievements are no more worth honoring considering their lowly human nature.

Elia Kazan, essentially threw other people under the bus to save his own ass. He didn't want to be blacklisted. But the thing is later on he claimed he really did it because he though "communism was bad and these people should be exposed". But considering at first he refused to reveal anyone but later did only shows that he didn't care at all about communism, he just wanted to save his own butt because he was once apart of the communist party and the HUAC was going to blacklist him if he didn't give any names.

Although the names he gave were already on the HUAC's blacklist, the fact that he would sell people out and then lie about why to cover up the fact that he did it for his own selfish purposes, he definitely didn't deserve to be honored.

Maybe that is why these award ceremonies are so useless and meaningless...should we really be honoring one's achievements with no regard to the creature of a person one calls them human that they are?

The least that man could have done was to admit he only did it because he wanted to save his own ass.

We are the kind of society that does that. That would throw someone under the bus if it benefits us. We are selfish by nature. We are all cold-hearted people.

Some say that when you join groups like the communist party, then you should prepare to let your identity be known. People like Kazan prove that you are better off working alone on things. You really can't trust people.

When I was watching Thelma and Louise, the only thing I could think was how stupid Louise must be for not abandoning Thelma after all the trouble she got her in.

But in the end, admit you are selfish rather than try to excuse a wrongful act.

Agnostic-Theist

I just recently discovered 2 terms: Agnostic-atheist and Agnostic-theist.

I didn't know those terms existed.

I always felt that agnostic didn't fully describe me...but an agnostic-theist does.

I do believe that there are just some things unexplainable. I do and don't believe in God. I definitely lean towards theism wayyyyy more than I do atheism.

I guess you can say I just simply question. There are moments when I do believe, and then moments that I don't want to believe.

I still don't understand how the Bible can advocate horrible acts like slavery and the mistreatment of women. Its something I will never understand. No one has yet to really explain it in a reasonable way. Some justify it by saying that slavery back then was mostly indentured servitude...but I am not buying that at all.

The Police are the Gestapo

The police in America are rarely punished for their negligence. Its angering that society is pay them through their paychecks and they don't even do their jobs properly.

I have no faith in the police, most of them are racist.

Our justice system is already screwed up as is, but whats more sickening is that they never punish police officers for their wrongs.

When will police officers be held accountable? Why pay them for jobs they are not doing or not doing correctly? They are too busy trying to emulate Nazi Gestapos.

There is a reason many people say, "Only in Ameria". Its not a compliment.

Why most black women care more about black issues than women issues

Sure you have a couple of black feminists, but its highly uncommon. Every now and then a black woman will correct a black guy's chauvinistic remark.

But for the most part black women have always put the issues of the black race before issues of being a woman. Why?

Women's voting is a great example. Black me got the right to vote before women did...but due to poll taxes and racists (specifically KKK members) they could not vote, not if they wanted to live to see the next day.

There were some black female activists lobbying for womens' right to vote, such as Sojourner Truth and Mary McLeod Bethune.

But when women got the right to vote in the 1920s, black women still could not vote, although legally they could, whites would find ways to prevent them from voting.

This is apparent in what Rosa Parks was put through when she had tried to register to vote and had to take a test and even though she passed, the white woman would intentionally fail her so she could not register.

So that is why most black women put the issues of the black race before the issues of being a woman. Its because it doesn't change the situation. Getting equal pay as a female at a job doesn't mean much if you are not being hired or equally paid for being black.

Its not that the issues that women face are not important to black women, it surely is and we all surely care as black women, but the problem is that black women suffer from 2 problems: race and gender...and race has always had more impact on black women, who have always had to work harder than most white women throughout history due to the conditions they and their families automatically had to suffer for being black.

When the Anthony Sowell case happened white women were saying that the police were negligent because they were women...but the black community knew the truth was because they were black, and worse, they were black women, the least prized in American socity.

Black women care more about the race issue because its often more detrimental. One cannot change their race.

The social aspect of love is to blame for divorce.

Its easy to blame women working as the death of marriage...but honestly its not so much that as the ideals of love changing.

Nowadays, divorce isn't looked down on they way it used to be. Just like with teen pregnancy. The approach and overall social attitudes towards these acts, is what makes them happen more. When it was looked down on and very taboo and one would be ruined if it happened, it kept the rate down lowly.

One thing that hasn't changed is that people rush into marriages. But the problem is the love aspect is different. Back then many people fell in love quicker...mostly because they were expect to. They couldn't divorce and at the same time, women couldn't really work.

Yet today we can divorce, we can work...yet people are not realizing that because of this, you know have to take the time to get to know the person you are lusting for.

I know 2 girls who have been with their boyfriends for only a few months and already they are talking about marriage. They plan to marry after college, yet one girl's boyfriend is already getting an engagement ring, while the other simply talk about the wedding and are saving up for it.

I personally don't feel someone should marry someone until at least dating seriously for 1 to 2 years...and it being on and off does not count.

I blame the divorce rate on the fact that people are not changing their views about love socially the way they are about who works and divorce.

Fake smiles.

A few days ago I was in a cab, my cab driver was Jamaican. He asked my mom if I was her daughter, somehow it went from that, to somehow being about the fact that I do not smile.

Eventually he was spouting the same things other people tell me. He was going on about Christianity, and smiling and being positive. I kept say "yeah" "sure" "umm...okay?" and just nodding my head and well, smiling...it was the only thing I honestly could do in the situation.

I may have mentioned before that I am Agnostic...an agnostic in a conservative Pentecostal family. I have often said to others if I ever went back to organized religion it would be Non-denominational, because I don't think I could ever go back to anything like Pentecostal. The only ways I'd ever go back was if God somehow led me back to that monstrosity of a denomination or if I married a pentecostal guy. But I highly doubt I will ever marry someone. I see myself as part of the statistic of black women likely NOT to marry...it comes with living in a racially self segregated state.

I despise atheists...and I also despise conservative christians simply because they are one in the same. Both are intent on forcing their beliefs on you.

It irks me though when everyone always says "go to God" and other things such as that to help me out. No one listens when I say, "I don't even know if I believe in God".

I read the Bible (NCV format, for now at least), I ask questions about stuff I read in Bible study. Its not like im not trying, but I seriously wish people would stop always giving God as the answer.

Next, I despise the "think positive and smile" approach. I am not goign to fake smile when I am upset. I don't care if it makes someone uncomfy by me not smiling. I don't like to smile whatsoever.

I am a negative realist. Does it make me more depressed and angry? obviously it does, but the negatives are more important than the positives.

People keep throwing solutions to me that honestly are not reasonable for me. I am always hearing people say they have problems similar to mine, even if it stems from something different, but they fail to realize that what works for them won't work for me.

Maybe thats the true reason I am on this journey to self discovery, because I am truly sick of other peoples so called "help".

Speaking of flags...

I hope one day I can make my own flag, one for myself to serve allegiance to. Why? I hate this world, and America is fucked up. I personally have a problem with our flag. I hate the fact that I have to pay taxes, yet am treated like a second class citizen. Its as fucked up as blacks having to be drafted in a war (wwII) when segregation still existed...I mean whose rights were they fighting for? Not theirs obviously as they had none! The only reason they had to fight was because the Germans would have done to them, what they did to the Jews.

But I no longer really consider myself American. It would anger me to be mistreated by a European for simply being "american" considering in America I am not treated like one anyways...if I can't be american for the good things, why should I have to carry the burden of being one for the bad things? Don't blame me for whatever whites do to your country...

But I realized, that while I am on my road to self discovery, one thing that would greatly compliment it is my own personal flag. and a "Declartion of Myself", something I could do once I finally find my identity and figure out who I am.

Id rather honor myself, serve myself, and have alligiance to myself rather than for a country that treats me like a 2nd class citizen.

America's version of the Swastika

When we see someone donning a swastika, we automatically know not to trust them. I once learned that that symbol actually had a good meaning, but when you turn it, its meaning becomes the exact opposite, which the Nazis did.

Its information most do not know therefore only dumb people would ever use it.

But America has its own equivalent to the swastika. And sadly it has yet to be condemned. Its the confederate flag. Not only is the flag Anti-American, but it does in fact represent slavery. Southerners will try to argue that it represents southerner's rights, but the problem with that is, that those so called rights they were seceding from happened to be over slavery, so it is in fact a flag that does represent slavery.

When you see someone waving that flag, you automatically know they are racist, you automatically know they can't be trusted and most likely have republican paranoia.

I am for the Union side, the good guys. Yes there were racists on the union side, but the confederacy was for keeping slavery, and for that reason, I would never support that side. I am extremely anti-south. Even though I have family from the south, I have no intentions of living there. I live in the midwest, and considering how racist white people are here, I can only imagine how horrible they are there.

Just like you can't trust a republican, you definitely can not trust someone who likes the confederate flag, or supports the south during slavery.

Also, the south needs to get over the fact that they lost the damn war. If they ever secede again, they won't be missed, they are so not worth getting into another war over...I am sick of gun toting redneck hillbillies making America look even worse.

Someday I hope to buy a confederate flag, for the sole purpose of burning it in a trash can...I don't think the confederates deserve any honor whatsoever...

a weird thing about movies..

I never really thought about it but I noticed that some of the must successful and beloved movies of our time, often are movies that take place in the past. Look at movies like Titanic and The Notebook. Also these movies tend to be somber and dramatic.

Maybe its because deep down we treasure the Golden Era of Hollywood, and we much prefer the glamour of those days than the immoral way out there type of movies you see today.

Sure you got successes like Pretty Woman, which doesn't take place in the past, but it does evoke glamor.

We all know the past wasn't glitzy, but I think we like movies that take place in the past because it gets us away from the problems of today. The movies that set the standard for Hollywood, and made Hollywood what it was came from the past.

Its a weird thing about movies though...that the successful movies of today, somehow have something to do with the past.

Race War?

Often you will hear racist whites talk about an impending race war.

Most people shrug it off as silly notions.

But its kind of like how people want to get rid of the Civil Rights Act of 1964...you do that, and Jim Crow will be able to return full force.

Do I believe America really has come a long way? No I do not. The racism never went away, it went behind closed doors...

And that is what makes the race war a possibility.

A race war would be alot like the Holocaust, and I am a firm believe that the Holocaust may happen again, in the United States.

It would be nice to think society has come a long way socially, but it hasn't.

All it takes is a bad event, to cause people to return to their selfish nature. Hobbes had it right when he said that people are selfish by nature. He was partly right in that you need laws, a gov't to help maintain somewhat of an order. Though he was too extreme in his thought, the reality is, people change based on the situation.

Its easy for 2 races to get along in safe setting. But when the safe setting becomes something like that of a jail setting, people will break off into like groups.

Whites automatically do not trust blacks (or biracials), and blacks due to history have had no reason to trust whites. The two would split.

A race war can happen, the insanity and paranoia many white are showing with Obama only proves that theory.

I do believe America will fall one day...it could be through another Holocaust/race war or it could be through something else.

People want to just shrug off those white supremacists, but many fail to realize that they are growing in numbers again...we are all sitting ducks who will be blind-sighted.

I am not encouraging anyone to go out and fight. I am simply saying that the notion that a race war will never happen is a lie. This is America, it was built on racism, and will likely fall due to racism.

What does that say about a person when...?

So I was at youtube looking up vids about Shaniya Davis, the biracial girl who was murdered recently. One of the videos I came across had around 400-500 comments. I didn't get past 100 before I couldn't take it anymore.

There is a reason I do not like to visit other blogs that much, there is a reason I choose no longer to comment on vids. There is a reason I avoid forums and Q&A sites.

In the comment section of the video I watched, it somehow went from being about the death of Shaniya and her crazy mother, to somehow being about liberalism, race, and religion.

Essentially conservatives somehow blamed liberalism for her death, you know how some paranoid conservatives get, they blame everything on liberals because they have an obsession over liberals. Then you had a series of atheists who were essentially bad mouthing those who dared mentioned the word God, and it became an argument about religion.

And then the worst one of all was that this gave a platform for racists to somehow blame the black race for this murder. Saying all sorts of things about blacks, forgetting that just a few years ago, there was the Caylee Anthony murder and the most famous of all the Jon Benet murder.

I won't lie, I was surprised to see Shanyia get coverage. You don't see much attention go to someone of color. But maybe its because her dad is white, which is more powerful than a biracial with a white mom. On top of that, she had the "cute factor", you know like the "pretty factor", the media only cares for those that are cute or pretty, the angelic faces.

What happened to her is horrible, there is probably more to the story than we already know, so unlike most people who are calling for a public hanging of the two suspects, im keeping shut...cause for all we know, the father may have had a role...anyone can fake emotions...and nothing may ever be as it appears to be.

but this incident along with the caylee murder prove that some people seriously should not have kids. China had it right in limiting the amount of kids one can have...but maybe a step should be taken further...some people should be steralized...only problem is finding out who should be...because sometimes its a matter of the parent just cracking...also people like that mcneil creep shouldnt even been out of jail considering his rap sheet...just like when that one family was raped and murdered and their house caught on fire a few years ago...the killers had extremely long rap sheets and yet they were not in jail!

okay, I will speak no more of this subject.

HawthoRNe

HawthoRNe is a doctor drama, or shall I say nurse drama. The show's main lead is Jada Pinkett Smith, who plays the head nurse.

She has a biracial daughter, but her husband had passed away a few years earlier. It is obvious that she and the head doctor Tom (a white guy played by the very hot Michael Vartan) have feelings for each other...hopefully the second season will play on that.

The show got very negative reviews when it premiered back in the summer. I couldn't believe why, it was good.

I am almost a sucker for doctor shows. I much prefer those to crime dramas. I was a fanatic for ER back in the 90s, even though i was in elementary school. I had a major crush on Noah Wyle and to this day whenever I catch an old episode of ER, I still can't help but drool over his character, John Carter.

I like HawthoRNe because for the first time they actually show a hospital from the point of view of the nurses. Strong Medicine which is another great show, was the first to take the point of view of female doctors.

ER is great too, its totally an ensemble with females and males, but mostly male leads.

Another doctor show that I enjoy alot is House, well the earlier seasons at least. I do not watch any of these shows religiously as well, I hate having to wait an hour to know the final verdict of something. Its the same with crime shows, I want to fastforward to the last 5-10 mins just to know who did it.

The only crime show I actually will withstand these days is Cold Case. I used to love Law and Order: SVU, but that show started to get too complex.

I hate soap operas, and I really hate shows where you feel like if you miss just one episode you are gonna be lost forever....

Maybe that is one of the reasons I began to outgrow ER around 2001, 2002...that and the fact that they killed off Dr. Green and then Dr. Benton left, and by then it was like Carter was the only character from the good years left, and not even his hottness could keep me entertained anymore (I should not that around this time I was getting very interested in Third Watch, mostly because of the hot fire fighter Jimmy Doherty and the good looking police officer Tyrone Davis). As a side note I am looking up all these names at Wikipedia, cause there is no way after like 8ish years or so I am gonna remember these names on my own...except for Dr. Carter lol.

But anyways, I am soooo off topic here...HawthoRNe is currently finished with its first season so its likely not to be shown on TNT again til 2010, unless they do some kind of Christmas or end of the special where they reair past stuff, like other channels at least used to do.

But if you ever get a chance to see it, watch it. It may not be the most stellar, its mostly about Christina Hawthorne (the main character) in the same sense that House is well...about Dr. House. Its not ensemble like ER or Strong Medicine.

And just a side note, I despise...no I loathely despise Grey's Anatomy.

Blacks and the "racist" ideology of saying Lighter skinned blacks do suffer racism.

You do have some retarded whites who do this, but its mostly a black thing more than anything.

Its when you have blacks, particularly darker skinned blacks who call you a racist, if you dare say lighter skinned blacks do suffer not only racism from whites, but are mistreated by darker skinned blacks.

Its the same way that you are perceived as self hating or racist for dare saying you are not just black but biracial too.

When a person says they are biracial, they know the world won't see them that way, but its part of their identity, in the same sense being black/african american is to others.

With lighter skinned blacks, they feel that they should not have to keep quiet about the racism they themselves receive for being black. Why should it only be a dark skinned black only thing when it comes to racism?

We all know that society wants division among different races...but what does that say within a race when its divided simply by skin tone due to perceived misconceptions?

All minority races have this light vs. dark issue...so its kind of easy to figure out who created the problem. Yet many who are for unifying the race have said it time and time again, it doesn't matter who started the problem, the problem is that we are still letting it happen ourselves.

That is true. As important as history is, dwelling on what happened will not fix the problem as we speak. History is important to help with the future, but its no good when you dwell on what can never be changed.

Interchangeably both

So the racists over at Macon D's blog want to rag on me for using both black and biracial.

Typical racists, they either call you "confused" for not sticking with one, or they call you a self hater for somehow using both....

Yeah, their point kind of gets hidden.

Then I got accused of hating dark skinned blacks. Must be because I refuse to deny the fact that lighter skinned blacks tend to get mistreated by darker skinned blacks while also being mistreated for being black.

I guess it hard for some people to realize that yes, mixed people and light skinned blacks do in fact suffer from racism.

Its the same with how black men always talk about racism against them but never the black women.

You can tell the idiots over there have an extremely loose definition of a racist. Their definition of a racist is someone who disagrees or does not sympathize with the poster. You are a troll if you say anything different, god forbid. Which in reality is so not the definition of racism.

But that should be expected when they are too dumb to figure out the difference between self identity and self hatred.

That blog is a joke. The commentors there are major jokes. Their racism and stupidity is so bad, it makes Ann Coulter look like a nice girl, and believe me i DESPISE her!

At least when she was railing on mulattoes in her book Liberal, she at least made a little bit more sense. The main thing she was complaining about is the fact that biracials call themselves black rather than biracial even though their dads left. The problem is that she forgets what society is about.

You see, I prefer racists that know they are racist and are not ashamed to be open with their racism like Limbaugh, Beck, and Coulter...racists who are "liberal" anger me, because they go around calling everyone racist for not agreeing with them, they go around ignoring the important things, they go around just doing the dumbest things. Just talking about "anti-racist liberals" makes me want to go conservative, the party notorious for being open and accepting of racism especially against blacks!

Why I do not consider myself a blogger

You have people that go around calling themselves a blogger. I am not. I merely post opinions that are like on the top of my head at the moment...if people read them they read them.

If I really wanted to be a blogger, my posts would be much more professional.

I do not want to be a blogger because I do not want to attract too many psychos. You go over to blogs like Macon D's Stuff White People Do, and blogs like Abagond, and you will find lots of racists and morons who attack you for not agreeing with them.

Believe me, most of those who hang around blogs like Macon D's are racist.

I do not visit many blogs nor follow any blogs, because one learns through things such as Youtube, just how moronic people can be online. The world's rejects hang out online.

I think people look too much into a comment. They misread it, or try to find problems with it. If you are not in full agreement with them then you must fully be against them. Some people are just seriously stupid.

That is why when I get comments I do not agree with I will either leave it in the moderation section to maybe look at again at a later date (in case my opinion is likely to change which has happened before) or I will delete it. Rarely do i engage in debate. I do not believe in debating online for the shear fact that you got alot of stupid racists (and believe it or not some of them are not white) like what you see at Macon D's blog. One particular racist happens to be an indian guy.

I will openly admit on this blog, I lose sympathy for a minority group when you start ragging on and miminalizing another minority's experience. Tell me, why should I feel sorry for what your race goes through, when you sit there downing my race? I mean, why do you think most whites will get defensive rather than understand when you talk about whites?

It doesn't make you racist for not sympathizing. Sometimes you can't and other times you don't want. Does it make you cold hearted? Yes....racist? No.

When I do my posts, I do not expect either blacks, biracials, or whites to understand what I say, sometimes people do, and sometimes they don't. I am not for being PC all the time.

Jesus is black!

Okay...i have no clue if he is or not...

Last night at IHOP, when I was dicussing that one of the reasons I find it hard to believe in God is how often hateful people use it to justify hatred acts, one of the examples I gave was white supremacists. I then mentioned the irony, and they said "Jesus isn't even white"...right when I mentioned that Jesus is Jewish and white supremacists hate Jews.

I found it odd that they said he isn't white...I don't know what they meant. Remember, these 3 girls are all white themselves. So I am doubting they believe that "Jesus is black" philosophy as I think that is only a black thing.

Although I must say that I was excited when I found out that Moses's wife (or one of them anyways) was black. At first I was skeptical...then I asked my practicaly devout Christian sister, who said its true. And she attends a very white church herself. I doubt that many whites would ever believe that Moses's wife is black let alone Jesus.

Now I have no clue if Jesus is black or not. I already got that white image of him in my head. I am sure if Jesus really wanted to, he could change his race for specific people if he was to give someone visions.

Different Histories Different results

Minorities do not like each other at all. All minority groups hate blacks, regardless of what blacks have done for them in the Civil Rights movement.

Its because minorities jump at the chance to be an "honorary white" which means you will be more socially accepted by whites and receive less racism, all you have to do is conform to the standards whites want you to be at, do as they say, and well, hate on blacks just like they do.

One of the most annoying things whites tend to do is try to compare the different histories of minorities in American. Its an honorary white bragging sort of thing.

They use the achievements of other minorities to throw at asians, as if they are the same.

Adrienne Curry in a racist diatribe of a blog post said that the Jewish don't complain about what hitler did, and that no minority groups get Affirmative Action except for blacks.

For starters, in this day and age, Jewish people are considered white, just like with the irish, they assimilated. Secondly, believe me, white women, and every minority group imaginable benefit from AA more than blacks do especially!!!

But either way whites often use the successes of another minority group to rub in the faces of blacks for not being as successful. They do this with no regard to the histories of each minority leading up to the present.

All minority groups have suffered at the hands of white people in America...yet in different ways and to different varying degrees.

You can't truly compare the experiences.

But what also annoys me is when other minority groups rag on other minority groups, mainly blacks.

A middle easterner had a blog post where she was talking about what whites did after Ft. Hood, only to switch to ragging on blacks.

She said stuff like "nigger" isnt okay to say but "sandnigger" is. Personally, how does demonizing and miminalizing another minority group experience going to really help you? It is like how the gays started being racist towards blacks for prop 8. Any kind of alliance you could have formed with othe minorities goes out the door when you start miminalizing their experiences for the sake of just your own.

The sad part is, that is what many whites want. They want those kind of divisions, thats the whole point of the honorary white system. If all minorities would stop fighting over who has it worse and realize that they are all suffering at the hands of the same person, then the problem could be fixed. A united front. But people are too stupid to do that.

Different histories mean different results. To compare different minority groups is comparing apples to oranges. Men to women, dogs to cats.

The "profess" syndrome

Every time some racialized event happens, minorities have the tendency to try to cater to white people by openly saying "I felt bad for such and such" or "I am totally against". In a sense, they are justifying an emotion that no one should even be questioning if it existed in them or not in the first place.

I hadn't really noticed it until a black girl decided to bring up the bus incident where a white kid was beaten for sitting in a wrong seat, and it just so happened the person who did the beating was black. She did the incident, and then spent 30 seconds going on this diatribe about how she felt bad for the kid, she made it sound like that she was having to apologize for her race and was pandering to whites, to make sure they knew she was not that kind of a black person.

It made me sick having to hear it. The fact that minorities have to do that pisses me off. Ft. Hood reminds me of this. Only this time its the muslims.

The first thing I thought when I heard this was "oh goodness, now white are going to falsely attack muslims and accuse their religion and their existence as slaves, they are going to once again strip what little individuality a minoritiy has simply for the actions of one man".

When Timothy McVeigh bombed the buildings in Oklahoma, no one took away the individuality of a white male or a white person in general. Yet let 1 minority do bad, it will unravel any good that 10 minorities of that race have done. This especially rings true for blacks and increasingly people of middle eastern descent.

Whites expect minorities to profess their sorrow for the white victim of an action at the hands of a person in their minority group. If you do not "profess" on your own, you are considered a supporter. In fact, even if you do profess, most will go ahead and strip you of your idividuality and assume because you share the race with that person that you must "obviously" share some genetic link to them. This is where blaming a whole race comes from.

When Kanye did his publicity stunt at the MTV awards, immediately all blacks were being blamed for his actions...people were saying that all blacks are this and that, etc etc.

Remember, in white society you cannot say whites do this and that, because somehow its "racist" even though whites do it to blacks every single time and then cry when you tell them what they are doing is racist (it must be a white thing to cry racism).

But its sickening to have to "profess" simply because whites cannot see you as an indivdual who has no connections to other people who do things. Its pointless to "profess" anyways, because even if you do, it will still be questioned and assumed that you are the exact opposite.
